Aims & Scope

ADR & The Law Journal (ADRLJ) is a platform for fresh and thoughtful legal writing on Alternative Dispute Resolution, human rights, constitutional reform, and how law interacts with society and technology. We welcome articles that push conversations forward, not just repeat what’s already known. The journal aims to build a culture of dialogue and scholarship across Africa and beyond, where law students, practitioners, and academics can all take part in shaping the legal narrative of our time.

Open Access Policy

We believe knowledge should be free and accessible. All our articles are available to everyone, without paywalls or subscriptions. Authors publish under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which means their work can be shared, reused, and built upon — as long as proper credit is given.

Peer Review Process

Every submission goes through a double-blind peer review process. Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Each manuscript is evaluated on its substance, originality, and relevance to current legal discussions. Our reviewers and editors are committed to honest feedback and fair evaluation, ensuring that each published piece reflects academic integrity and quality.

Publication Frequency

ADR & The Law Journal is published quarterly, with issues released in March, June, September, and December. From time to time, we also release special issues on emerging or urgent legal topics in Africa and globally.

Archiving and Indexing

To ensure long-term preservation, ADRLJ participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). We are also in the process of being indexed in Google Scholar, African Journals Online (AJOL), and HeinOnline, to make our work accessible to a wider audience of researchers and practitioners.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright to their work. By publishing with us, they grant ADR & The Law Journal the right to be the first to publish the article. All articles appear under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), allowing others to share and adapt the work for any purpose, provided the author and source are credited.

Publication Ethics

We take ethics seriously. ADR & The Law Journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) standards. We do not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate submissions, or any form of academic dishonesty. Editors, reviewers, and authors are all expected to act with transparency and fairness throughout the publishing process.
